Love or Lust?? - As a special relationship with a man, have you ever wondered to yourself if you are living a romance was based on love or just lust alone? Apparently the answer depends on the part of the brain you use.
As reported by Female First, the study released in the Journal of Sexual Medicine and analyzed 20 different studies related to the effects of sex and love. Research conducted also included brain scans of people who see erotic pictures, pictures of loved ones, food and other pleasures trigger.
According to researchers, it's lust triggered the brain that controls feelings of pleasure, which is associated with sex and food. However, love is triggered parts of the brain associated with the habit.
The researchers say that there are two parts of the brain responsible for tracking how sexual desire develops into love, the insula and striatum.
Jim Pfaus Professor of Psychology at Concordia University in Montreal and author of the study, said, "We are marking different things in love, sexual desire and addiction. However, everything is processed in the same place."
The results showed that the brain treats love as a habit that has been formed over a long period of time. So, that was lust may be turned into love and transferred into the habit part of the brain. The same pattern occurs when people become addicted to drugs. Thus, the expression of love turns addiction really exists.
"Habit is usually a bad thing, but the most important thing is to define the brain. Amendment of passion into love is a bonding mechanism in a relationship," said Pfaus.
Pfaus also believe that this study will serve as a foundation for other research. "This study reveals that evolution could help understand addiction, love, and social."
